A Study In Contrasts

12 x 12 cut file die-cuts Madeline Fox November 2014 paper weaving rub-ons Shake It Off kit tags wood veneer

In a discussion recently on the Scraptastic message board, I might have bemoaned the fact that scrapbook papers never seem to have the "right" colors for my swim team photos. Never mind!!! There ARE no "right" colors. In fact, by not having patterned papers with blues that "matched" the photo below, the page becomes a study in contrasts, and I love it!  Case in point: the bold orange dot paper and pink and red stripe are more vivid against the neutral patterned paper background, white tags contrast with black, and because it has none of the aforementioned colors, my photo...

Shape It Up!

Autumn Card Cards Fall Free Fallin' Add-on Free Fallin' Kit November 2014 Roree Rumph Shaped Tag Tags

Hey everyone! Roree here with you today. Fall is my absolute favorite time of year, so it was a complete no-brainer on which kit I should get this month: Free Fallin', of course! I received both the kit and add-on, and they are jam-packed with the cutest papers and embellishments perfect for all of the Autumn-themed projects on my to-do list. I find that shaped cards and tags are the perfect canvas for products with a theme, so I took cues from the kit and created a card and a tag in classic shapes of the season, an apple and...

Thursday Challenge: Tag You're It!

Card Challenge Heart it Races Kit Kathy Martin Madeline Fox Tag Challenge tags

How about a little tag challenge today with Madeline and I? Tags aren't just for pretty packages! Tags make perfect accents for paper crafting projects such as cards and scrapbook pages. For my 'You & Me' card, tags were layered and used to frame accents. Next Madeline uses tags on a couple of layouts with The Heart It Races kit. On the page, Pretty Hummers, a tag was cut from a patterned paper journal block.  The tag becomes a landing place for the title. Placing the letters across the tag helps to set it off from the papers below.  On...

Dress It Up with Star Birthday Tags!

August 2014 Cards Celebration Add-on Celebration Kit Roree Rumph Tags

Hey everyone! Roree here with some festive tags using August's Celebration Kit and Add-on. Stars are definitely a shape that are associated with birthdays, so I thought it would be fun to create some quick and easy tags perfect for dressing up any type of birthday gift.  I used a die cut machine to cut out my stars using Carta Bella's It's a Celebration patterned papers from both the kit and add-on. Then just because I like a stitched look, I added some machine sewing around the edges of the stars for texture. I finished the stars with a little...

Pinterest Monday with Brittany and Nathalie

12X12 layout Brittany McLeod Card Making embossing Nathalie Leonelli Pinterest Monday Punches Simple Stories summer nights tags

It's Monday so Brittany and I turned to Pinterest to find some inspiration for our projects today. Brittany created a fabulous mood board gathering our favorite picks: We both worked with the July Summer Nights kit and add-on but I believe that you will find many ideas above for any kit/supplies you might be using at the moment. Can you find the many elements, colors and ideas I pulled? I loved the summery feel of the mood board. It made me think of sky, water and sun and they are all present on my page! The symmetrical look of the pillows...
