Hey Cowboy

12X12 layout American Crafts Bazzill Journaling Michelle Unruh Mocha Latte Monochromatic Amy Tangerine Pink Paislee

Hello everyone! Michelle here, sharing my first project with the December kits. My first project is made with the Mocha Latte kit and add on. I love this monochromatic kit. It gave my page such a wonderful cohesive feel!!

When preparing pages for my kit, I was looking through photos on my computer. I remembered these that I had taken of my son on his rocking horse that his Grandpa made and his Grandpa's boots and hat. Converting them to Sepia tone... made them perfect for my page.

I backed Jessica's exclusive tag with some brown cardstock to make it pop, adding in some gems and foam squares to my tag and heart.

The title was cut with a die cut machine, adding in the gem star and twine to dress it up. The twine reminds me of a cowboys lasso...

While some would say the hearts and flower are not neccesarily fitting for a cowboy page, I say they are. :) His Grandpa passed away about 16 mo ago, and my boy adored his Grandpa. Being that he made the horse and I found the boots and hat and gave them to him, they fit perfectly. I do love the texture the frayed flower adds. I layered it with a tag sticker and the polaroid frame.

This month, the DT's theme or challenge is all about journaling. It is important to have the story to go with the photos. I chose to type mine up and add it to the back of my page. A little tip too... I cut the inside of my page out with my Fiskar's trimmer to stretch my paper and make it go further. I do that with as many pieces as I can. It also keeps the weight of my page down in my album.

So, how about you?? Do you journal on your pages??

The sepia photos are perfect for this kit and I love the way you put it together! To me, the journaling is almost as important as the photo and I almost always add a thought or a story. I’ve even had my DIL and my granddaughter tell me what journaling to add to a LO about an event I wasn’t at. If only I had my mother’s and grandmother’s thoughts to go along with the photos they passed down!
