Aloha!

12X12 layout July 2012 Challenge Michelle Unruh Nostalgic Summer

It's Thursday! You know what that means... a new challenge. The colors in the Nostalgic Summer kit are just amazing. I love the muted oranges with the teals. So this week, I challenge you to use the color palette below to create a project. It can be a card, LO, altered project. Whatever floats your boat. There is a twist though. It is a challenge right? ;) The twist is to use a die cutting machine to cut something out. Most of us have at least one. If not, then pull out those old shape punches and punch something out.

Here is the color palette I found off of Pinterest.

Below, you will find my project...

The colors in this kit just scream tropics to me. I knew these photos of my resort from our stay in Disney were perfect. It is a perfect match. My sweet friend (and fellow DT member) played with these in photoshop and split my photo up so I could send it in as 3 4x6 photos to be printed.

I used my Cricut Expression and a seasonal cartridge (Luau) to cut the sun and Aloha. I cut the Aloha three times. I wanted the shadow behind to give it more depth. The third cut was so I could get the little flower in a different color.

I pulled some Thickers from my stash and used the banners from last month's PB & J kit. I also used some of my older Creative Memories punches to punch the flowers.

Now it is your turn. Go! Create a project using the color palette above. Dust off that die cutting machine or those punches!! Most of all have fun with it!!

You have until Wednesday, August 1st at midnight to submit all of your entries for the July 2012 blog challenges. The prize this month is a is a $20.00 gift certificate to the Scraptastic Club store.

This is a beautiful color palette and I can’t wait to play with it, I was late ordering this kit (coming with my August goodies); but I’m sure I have most of these colors in various forms. I love the way you tweaked this photo to make a long one! Did it start out as a long photo, or did you crop a smaller picture to this long format before splitting it into 3? I learn something new here every day!
